So we just got three new fish. We named the first two Thor and Loki, names which I wholeheartedly approve. The third fish has yet to be named, but I’m voting for Moriarty.

You know that moment when you’re reading a book and you just have to stop and bite your lip and squeal or sigh or close your eyes and wrinkle your nose and forehead and press the book against your heart and just like sit there and try to soak up the gorgeous literature via osmosis?

That’s my favorite part of reading.

i keep over-thinking my writing and getting stressed out, keep taking too many steps backwards and not enough forward

but then i picture J. K. Rowling or John Green sitting at their computers and huffing and pulling their hair and then just going ARRGHHhhhhh and rage-deleting a few paragraphs, and somehow i feel better

What’s your opinion on authors singling out negative reviews (explaining in comments why the review is wrong, defending their book, etc) of their work on sites like Goodreads?

I think authors are allowed to point out errors of fact in a negative review, if…

One could do worse than be a swinger of birches.
